Baptism has been a part of the Christian church from its earliest days. Whether it is the baptism of one or many, a child or an adult, it is one of the most powerful statements of what it means to be a follower of Jesus Christ.
It is important to state that an infant is brought for baptism on the basis of the parents’ and godparents’ active faith in Christ. Family tradition is a good thing and a broad respect for religious and moral standards can be helpful, but these alone do not constitute grounds for baptism.
St Bede’s offers two types of services to parents with children.
A Thanksgiving Service is offered to visitors and those who are still exploring the Christian faith.
Infant Baptism is offered to parents and godparents who are followers of Jesus and active members of the church.
Both services are held during our normal 10am and 6.30pm Sunday gatherings. There is no charge for the services or the three preparation sessions.
